Goshen - Funeral services for Rev. Garry Maddox, 61, will be Friday, September 20, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Kirk and the Rev. Tony McCain officiating. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m Friday. Rev. Maddox passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Bertha Blythe Maddox, of Goshen; two children, Chris Maddox and Jennie Maddox Hardin, both of Goshen; two grandchildren, Christopher Hardin and Brittney Hardin; one sister, Linda Ragan (Larry), of Northville, Michigan; one brother, Buddy Maddox (Jan), of Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Steve Ragan, Colby Goss, Scott Kay, Jerry Mobley, C.J. Salcido, Alex Salcido and Christopher Hardin. Rev. Maddox was born in Etowah County and had been a resident of Spring Garden and Goshen most of his life. He was a graduate of Spring Garden High School, retired from the City of Anniston as an automobile mechanic, and served as the pastor of Arrington Chapel Congregational Methodist Church for 10 years. He loved to fish with his son and brother and spend time with his children and grandchildren. Rev. Maddox was preceded in death by his parents, Lathan and Frances Maddox; and two brothers, Bobby Maddox and Lathan Maddox Jr.
