Funeral service for Garvin N. Cole, 80, was held Monday July 20, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Gary McCurdy, Shane Clark and Daniel Rogers officiating. Burial followed at Piedmont Memory Gardens. Mr. Cole passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at this home. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty K. Cole; two brothers, Alvis (Ann) Cole and Revis (Margie) Cole, all of Rabbittown; special great-nieces, Cailee and Allyce Cole, both of Jacksonville and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were David Cole, Glenn Cole, Mike Cole, Lance Pope, Larry Pope and Gary Pope. Mr.Cole was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Ann Cole; parents, William Columbus Cole and Vera Moore Cole; brothers, Jerre W. Cole, Hollis Pope and Curtis Pope; several half brothers and half sisters. A native of Calhoun County Mr. Cole was a member of the Piedmont Church of Christ, a member of the masons, and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot and was a wonderful husband, daddy and uncle. His smile and positive spirit brightened the lives of everyone he knew. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O.Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272.
