The funeral service for Mr. George Ormand "Buddy" Smith, 90, will he held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Mr. Smith's grandsons, Dr. Ryan Price and Mr. Todd Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Smith passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at U.A.B. Hospital in Birmingham. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Sprayberry Smith and by his second wife, Clara Shears Smith. A native of Calhoun County, Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was retired from Scientific Atlantic/Southern Tool. He was a current member of Eulaton Baptist Church and a former member of New Haven and Macedonia Baptist Churches. Mr. Smith enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his children, Jerry O. Smith (Alice), of Bynum, who served as loving caregivers, Larry W. Smith (Yvonne), of Brewton, Carla Price (Tom), of Choccolocco; step-children, Rodney Shears (Carolyn), Linda McCurry (Ken), Rita Dempsey (Rodney) and Bobbie Pate (Lawrence); ten grandchildren, Tracy Jackson (Martus), Barry Smith (Niki), Tyler Smith (Traci), Todd Smith (Paige), Jonathon Smith (Gabrielle), Chuck Ivie, Ryan Price (Teresa), Lauren Goolsby (Andrew) Kenneth Angle (Tammy) and Lisa Smith (Jeff); twenty great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mr. Smith's grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Smith's name to the Big Oak Ranch for Boys and Girls, PO Box 507, Springville, AL 35166.
