Funeral service for George Rankin Mizzell, 93, will be Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The Reverend Jerry Starling will be officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Snow Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Mizzell passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Myra Farmer Mizzell; his sons, George Henry Mizzell (Cathy) and John Carl Mizzell; daughter, Diana Mizzell Durham (Archie); his grandchildren, Teresa Mizzell Pearson (Michael), John Terry Mizzell (Jeanette), Meredith U. Burrage, John Scott Underwood (Angel), Salina Adcock Korn (Russ), Richard Henry Mizzell (Bobbie), Kevin David Adcock (Laura), Robert Milton Mizzell and Amber Suzanne Mizzell; 13 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Roxie Farmer Clifton; nieces, Melinda Bridges and Tracy Nedella. Pallbearers will be Kevin Adcock, Rick Mizzell, John Mizzell, Scott Mizzell, Robert Mizzell and Michael Pearson. Mr. Mizzell was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Irene Mizzell; father, John Terry Mizzell; daughters-in-law, June Digby Mizzell and Meaow Mizzell; a grandson, Timothy Lenn Durham; a great-great-granddaughter, Summer Paige Hornsby and niece, Thericia Clifton Rold. Mr. Mizzell was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 101 F. & A.M. He was a veteran of the US Marines and retired from Monsanto as a supervisor. He had a passion for the restoration of the Snow Family Home which is listed in the National Registry of Homes. He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading and most of all, spending time with his family.
