Service for Mrs. Georgia Haynes Brooks, 92, will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Billy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Brooks passed away on August 5, 2015, at home. Mrs. Brooks was born in Delta, Ala. and had lived in Anniston for most of her life. She had retired from Martin's/Wakefield's. She did ceramics and was famous for her chicken and dressing. She was a Christian lady and was of the Baptist faith. She will be best known for her sweet disposition and her selfless acts of kindness. She was loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Brooks is preceded in death by her husband, John D. "Bozo" Brooks; her parents, Alec and Vestula Haynes; two sons, Bobby H. Brooks and Wayne Brooks; a granddaughter, Monica Odom; five brothers; and five sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Gail Brooks Pogue, of Oxford and Patsy Brooks Stubbs and her husband, Charles, of Anniston; a sister, Mindy Lee Phillips, of Delta; eight grandchildren, Lisa Elam, David Stubbs, Andrew Stubbs, Michael Pogue, Scott Pogue, Angie Caylor, Shannon Hamilton and Karen Culverhouse; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great- grandsons. The family wishes to thank Charles Stubbs, all of the family and to Alabama Hospice Care of Oxford.
