A funeral service for Mr. Gerald Edward Ballard, 73, of Oxford, will be Sunday, October 5, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Forestlawn Mausoleum with the Reverend Dewayne Borders officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Mr. Ballard passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at UAB Hospital. A native of Alabama, Mr. Ballard graduated from Anniston High School in 1959 and worked at Anniston Army Depot for 32 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ruby Ballard; a brother, Dudley Ballard and grandparents, Ben and Molly Patterson Ballard and Sylvester and Nettie Clecker Knight. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margaret J. Young Ballard; daughter, Catherine Ballard Starr and her husband, James, of Auburn; son, Ben Ballard, of Anniston; grandchildren, Whitney Livingston Brown and her husband, Dustin, of Jacksonville, Marley Jean Livingston, of Auburn and Tiffanie Starr and her husband, Derek, of Decatur, Ga.; grandchildren, Brody Barnwell, Jake Barnwell, Bailey Brown, Amelia Brown, Martha Boudreau, and Adele Boudreau; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be David Cooper, Dustin Brown, Rodney Ballard, Marty Carter, Randy Ballard and Billy Bunn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the , 1449 Medical Park Drive, Birmingham, AL 35213-1901. Online condolences may be made to the family at K.L.
