Mrs. Geraldine King, 90, of Anniston, Al., passed away on January 25, 2015, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. She was a resident of Autumn Cove Assisted Living. Mrs. King was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but was raised in Cleburne County and was a resident of Calhoun County for the past 68 years. She was an original member of the Chulafinnee Baptist Church and was the oldest, living member of the congregation. She was known by everyone to be a fun loving individual and was loved by all. She was devoted to her family and her church. Mrs. King was retired from the Heflin Manufacturing Company. She is survived by two daughters, Gwen Mitchell (Bill), of Dahlonega, Ga., and Gayle Whatley (Ed), of Oxford, Ala.; one brother, Donald Lester (Yvonne), of Oxford, Ala.; three grandchildren, Shannon Bowen (Matt), of Jefferson, Ga., Phillip Whatley (Valerie), of Tallassee, Ala., and Alan Whatley (Rachel), of Oxford. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Dylan Anderson, of Athens, Ga., Cassidy Gable, of Jefferson Ga., Ashleigh Whatley, of Oxford, Ala., Isabella and Olivia Whatley, of Tallassee, Ala.; nieces and nephews; the staff at Autumn Cove Assisted Living, who lovingly cared for her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward King; her parents, Roy and Rural Lester; one brother, Charles Lester. The family will receive friends on January 26, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home. Funeral service will be January 27, 2015, at 2 p.m., at the Chulafinnee Baptist Church, in Heflin, Alabama and will be officiated by the Rev. Phillip Morris, the Rev. James Benefield and the Rev. Douglas Haynes. She will be eulogized by her grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Phillip Whatley, Alan Whatley, Dylan Anderson, Lynn Payne, Ronnie Payne, and David Houston.
