Service for Gilford Lloyd "Bill" McCain, 77, will be today February 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney McInnis and Pat Kirk officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Littlejohn Cemetery. The family received friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. McCain passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his home. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Evellyn McCain; two sons, Mark Alan McCain (Donna), of Poteet, Texas and Jay McCain (Sandra), of Piedmont; two grandchildren, Jared McCain and Jayden McCain; one brother, J.C. McCain Jr., of Gadsden; two sisters, Marie Kirk and Sally Gilmer, both of Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mark McCain, Jay McCain, Jared McCain, Jayden McCain, Pat Kirk, Richard McCain, Keith Pace and Randal Rankin. Honorary Pallbearers will be the crew of the USS Hassayampa. Mr. McCain was a longtime resident of Piedmont, an avid horse lover and loved the cowboy lifestyle. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot, he was in the U.S. Navy for four years and the Army Reserves for 25 years where he retired as a Command Sergeant Major. He was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Meagan Anne McCain and Jordan Lee McCain; parents Nola and J.C. McCain Sr.
