A memorial service for Mrs. Ginny Freeman Allen, 71, will be Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Rev. Andy Curtis officiating. Mrs. Allen passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at her residence. She is survived by her husband, John Allen; her daughters, Elizabeth (Craig) Ormson and Lynn (Brian) Mitchell; one granddaughter, Emmaline Jane Mitchell; two brothers, Stan Freeman and John Freeman; and numerous family members and good friends. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Otis S. and Elizabeth J. Freeman. Mrs. Allen attended Miami University of Ohio and married Mr. John Allen right after graduation. She started her career as a 1st grade teacher in Storrs, Connecticut while Mr. Allen was at the University of Connecticut for his MBA. Mr. and Mrs. Allen moved to Chalfont, Pennsylvania in 1978, where she began her career teaching students with special needs. She was a creative and well-loved teacher, touching the lives of hundreds over the span of 25 years. During the course of those years, Mrs. Allen attained her master's degree at Temple University. Her love of travel, history and literature prompted Mrs. Allen to explore the world and collect treasures from each destination. She shared her love of reading and history by volunteering with Adult Literacy programs, libraries and several historical societies. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, Otis Staunton Freeman and Elizabeth Jordan Freeman; and her sister-in-law, Philomena Murray Freeman.
