Funeral service for Mrs. Girda Thompson Bush will be Thursday, August 13, 2015, at noon at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Rev. Lyle Holland and Rick Kaufhold officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper at 4 p.m. following the service on Thursday afternoon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Mrs. Bush died on Sunday, August 8, 2015, at her residence. Mrs. Bush is survived by several loving nieces and nephews and several devoted caregivers, all of whom took excellent care of her over the last several years. Mrs. Bush is a native of Walker County and lived in Jacksonville for over 60 years. She was a member of Jacksonville FUMC. Her working career consisted of being a dedicated and influential teacher for over 40 years. Mrs. Bush taught school in several places including Virginia for one year, the Jacksonville area for 30 years and in Walker County for 10 years. Mrs. Bush is preceded in death by her husband, Newbern Bush; her three brothers, A.E. Thompson, Tullie E. Thompson and Flemon E. Thompson and one sister, Wilda T. Rubino.
