Funeral service for Gladys Estelle Lockridge, 95, will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with the Rev. Mike Owens, Pastor at Leatherwood Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Plum Springs Cemetery in Eastaboga. Mrs. Lockridge passed away at Soddy Daisy Nursing Home in Soddy Daisy, Tenn., on Saturday, December 3, 2016, after a long illness. Mrs. Lockridge was preceded in death by a son, John William Lockridge; husband, Emery William Lockridge, and grandson, Randall Leroy Best. Survivors include her son, Walter Lockridge (Ruth); sister, Virginia Kirby; grandchildren, Tujuana Land (John), Monna Lockridge, Walter Lockridge, Jr. (Alison); nine great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Donnie Matthew, Dennis Matthew, Jody Matthew, Wayne Kirby, Terry Dawson, Lanny Taliaferro. Honorary pallbearer will be Leroy Matthew. Gladys was born on January 31, 1921 in Salem. She lived most of her life in the Blue Mountain/Anniston area. She worked at Linen Thread Company in Blue Mountain until retiring in 1986, after 40 plus years of service.
