Services for Mrs. Gladys Weathers, 78, will be Saturday at 1 pm from the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Ross Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Forestlawn Gardens. Public viewing will be Friday afternoon from 2 - 7:30 pm at Ervin Funeral Chapel. Gladys Odessa Weathers was born July 11, 1940, to the late Samuel Russell and Ozzie (Eugene) Parker. She united in the holy bonds of matrimony with the late Eugene Benjamin Weathers, Sr. in 1968. Gladys retired from Fort McClellan after years of dedicated service. In addition to being a loving and wonderful mother and grandmother, she was downright amazing for caring for others. She answered the Master's call on Thursday, December 27, 2018, with family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Weathers, Sr.; parents, Samuel Russell and Ozzie (Eugene) Parker; sons, Samuel Russell, Sr. and Eugene Weathers, Jr.; a special son, her dog, Sampson Weathers; and siblings, Elizabeth Williams and Willie Russell. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: eight children, Anthony Russell, Sr., Joseph (Shaunta) Weathers of Anniston, Alabama, Vanessa (Louis) Winchester, Carolyn Weathers, Shalika Finley and Cherita (Clifton) Finley, all of Anniston, Alabama, Alice (Juan) Russell and JoAnne (David) Turner Anderson, both of Birmingham, Alabama; forty-eight grandchildren; seventy-eight great grandchildren, a host of great, great- grandchildren, nephews, other relatives and friends.
