A memorial service for Mr. Glenn D. Hester, 91, will be held at a later date. His interment will take place at Alabama National Cemetery. Mr. Hester died on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Jacksonville Health and Rehab. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hester; his sons, Glenn D. Hester Jr., Thomas A. (Kathy) Hester and Jeffrey D. (Felecia) Hester; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and close friends, Carlton and Sharon Ward, and Mauricio David. Mr. Hester was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville. During WWII he served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Mississippi in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he went to the Memphis School of Art, met and married his dear wife Mary, worked for the Memphis, Tenn. Police Dept. He returned to military service in the U.S. Army where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division and became a criminal investigator. He served two tours in Vietnam, earning the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. After retiring from active duty, Mr. Hester volunteered as a bailiff for the Jacksonville City Court for 19 years and worked at the Anniston Army Depot as Chief Investigator. Mr. Hester enjoyed fishing and art. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved God, his country and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myra and Cecil Hester; his brothers, Don Hester and Bob Hester; and his sister, Rosemary Hester.
