Gloria Gay Gibson Uptain, 77, passed away Wednesday. Mrs. Uptain was a former mayor of West Liberty, West Virginia. Gloria later moved to Huntsville and was in the real estate business prior to her retirement. She was a people person, she loved music and motorcycles and was known by her friends as the Queen. To anyone who knew her, she truly was the Queen and was exceptional in everything she did. Survivors include her husband, Dorsey Uptain; four siblings; one son; three granddaughters and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. There will be a family visitation and memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Weaver Congregational Methodist Church in Weaver. (www.laughlinservice.com) The family wishes to express thanks to Dr. Phillip McGee and staff at CCI for the exceptional care they provided. Also special thanks to the exceptional caregivers with Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation in Huntsville.
