Grace Penny Jennings went to her heavenly home on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, with her family gathered around her. Grace was a career nurse and she carried that over into her personal life as well. She helped many people over her 80 years and she will be dearly missed. Grace was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church but had attended Hokes Bluff First United Methodist Church since moving to Hokes Bluff in 2009. She is survived by her only child, Douglas Jennings; daugher -in-law, Tammy Jennings and grandson, Brodie Jennings, all of Hokes Bluff. She is also survived by a sister, Jane Simmons (Marvin), of Jacksonville; a brother, Basil Penny (Mary Ann), of Piedmont; brothers-in-law, Edward Sherman, of Jacksonville, Willard Jennings and Forrest "Pat" Jennings, of Spring Garden; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Mack) Studdard and Shirley Stephens, of Piedmont and Ann Matthews, of Centre. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jack Jennings; sisters, Lora Dean Smith, Vivian Harding and Esther Sherman; brothers, Bryson Penny, Gerald Penny and Curtis Penny and her parents, Gilbert and Cordie Penny. Grace worked as a nurse at Piedmont Hospital, Gadsden Regional (as assistant nursing director) and retired as nursing director at Jacksonville hospital. We will honor Grace at a funeral service at Thompson Funeral Home on Monday, March 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Baccus presiding. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service. Pallbearers will be Jeff Simmons, Chris Sherman, Trent Penny, Barry Penny, Jeremy Penny and Dewey Pruitt.
