Funeral service for Rev. Gregory L. Nixon Sr., 64, will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Murray Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Anniston. Presiding Elder of the Anniston District, the Rev. Frederick L. Braddock, Sr. will officiate with Presiding Bishop of the 5th District, the Rev. Teresa E. Snorton as eulogist. Burial will follow in Edgemont Cemetery with military honors. Public viewing will be held today 1-7 p.m. with a family hour from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Goodson Funeral Home, Inc. directing. Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Nixon, of Anniston; children, Terrance Nixon (Lanae), of Baltimore, Md., Cassandra Nixon Long (Gerry), of Weaver, Monique Nixon, of Villa Rica, Ga., Gregory Nixon Jr. (Gabriel), of Birmingham; brothers, Dan Nixon Jr. (Mae), of Chicago, Ill., Stanley Nixon (Kim) and Michael Nixon (Juanette), all of Anniston; sisters-in-law, Shirley Miller, of Plainfield, N.J. and Geraldine Davis (Rick), of Baltimore, Md.; brothers-in-law, Solomon Lewis and William Lewis, both of Baltimore, Md.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
