A funeral service for Gwinette Rogers Johnson, 80, will be held Monday, January 26, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Jerry Irwin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Bowery Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this afternoon from 4 - 6 p.m. Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, January 24 2015, at her residence. She is survived by her husband, Donald Johnson, of Jacksonville; a son, Rodney (Connie) Waldrop, of Prattville; three sisters, Margaret (Eddie) Gates, of Mich., Claudette (Bill) Ward, of Anniston and Barbara (Claude) McKee, of Jacksonville; her best friend, Geraldine Goodwin, of Jacksonville; a granddaughter, Jennifer Waldrop and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Harvest Church of God and served as a volunteer for 15 years at the Jacksonville Senior Center. She received five Presidential Awards for her volunteer services. She was runner-up at the Mrs. Calhoun County pageant in 1997 and sang in the Ette Quartette on the radio. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Waldrop; her mother, Eddle Rogers; her father, Benjamin Rogers; two sisters, Evelyn Brittin and Mildred Pruitt and three brothers, Benjamin Rogers, Billy Rogers and Bob Rogers.
