Phenix City - Harry L. McElwee, 72, of Phenix City, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Regional Rehab Hospital in Phenix, City. A memorial service for will be held at 10 a.m. EST on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, with the Rev. Bob Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, August, 24, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. McElwee was born in Piedmont, Alabama, to the late T.Z. McElwee and Bertie Trammell McElwee. He later joined the Alabama Highway Patrol where he achieved the rank of Corporal before retiring after 24 years. Mr. McElwee was a member of Cascade Hills Church and a member of the Marcus Bruce Lee Fraternal Order of Police in Phenix City. Mr. McElwee is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Crow McElwee; one daughter, Heather Hudson and husband, Josh; one son, Bryan McElwee; two grandchildren, Braden Hudson and Bella Hudson and one sister, Phillis Ivy and her husband, Bill, of Cuba.
