Harry R. Cooper was born April 26, 1944 in Trussville and graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School in 1962. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Lee Smith, at 18 years old. In 1964, they moved to Oxford to start a family of their own. Harry worked for his Uncle, James T. Cooper, at Southern Tool in Oxford for several years. Eventually, he opened a business of his own, Cooper Tool & Machine Company in Oxford. Harry had a passion for antique engines and building model replicas. He also had a passion for animals of all kinds. Mr. Cooper passed away unexpectedly at his home the morning of September 1, 2016. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents Harold Cooper and Ruby Bruce; his brother, Billy Williams; his close uncle and aunt, James T. and Mary Cooper; his close cousin, Camellia Cooper, and his daughter-in-law Wendy Cooper. Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife, Linda; his three children, Cindy Armstrong, Jeff Cooper and Philip Cooper (Marie); six grandchildren, Emily, Tammy, Logan, Brandon, Scott and Hunter; one great-grandchild, Emersyn, and his siblings Terry, Bruce, Alice and Melanie. He was also survived by many friends and business associates. A memorial service will be held from 2-4 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford on today, September 4, 2016.
