To this day I stand in amazement at the Satcher family's faith and sacrifice that provided Harry, and his siblings, the strength to endure the hardships of their dream. Harry's life was not in vain, as he still provides so many with the example of humility and courage in the face of oppression. It has been almost 50 years, and his true character shines brighter with each passing day. Harry had something in the 60's that many of us are still attempting to find today. .... a dream that would lead the the betterment of our world.
I express my sympathy to Harry's family members and pray the Lord's blessings on each one.

I was saddened to learn of Harry's death and extend my condolences to the Satcher family. As a classmate at Wellborn I knew Harry to be a person of quiet dignity and intelligence. He was undeserving of the many unkindnesses so typical of the times. I know that many friends and family will grieve his passing and miss him. I feel certain that he has generated much goodwill and remains an object of respect.

To the Satcher family my sincere condoloscence. I remember Harry & Larry and their brave move to desegregate Wellborn; hearing the stories and the perserverance of the few. They helped paved the way for me when I attended Wellborn in 1969. As a child my family, attended Mt. Liberty Church, seeing Mrs. Anna and Mr. Wilmer and the values they imparted upon us. May GOD comfort your families. Ms. Lottie, thank you for being such a great friend of my mother, the late Gladys Kirkland. God bless and keep each of you.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
