Funeral service for Harvey "Pop" Nixon Jr., 79, will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Refuge Full Gospel Methodist Church. The Rev. Benjamin Little, Pastor, with Pastor Brenda Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Eden Hills Cemetery. Viewing will be 1-7 this evening at the funeral home. Goodson Funeral Home directing. Survivors include wife, Willie Nixon, of Anniston; two daughters, Mary (Lowell) Griffin, of Anniston, and Melissa (Clarence) Richardson, of Palmdale, Calif.; two sons, Kerry Griffin and Darreyl Griffin, both of Anniston; one brother, George Nixon Jr., of Birmingham; two sisters, Rosalyn Nixon and Katherine Nixon, both of Birmingham; aunts, Carrie Barker, of Greensboro, and Lallie (Richard) Falls, of Randolph, Mass.; uncles, Samuel (Bertia) Ryans, of Greensboro, and Johnnie (Mary) Ryans, of Chicago, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Anna Nixon, of Cincinnati, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; special cousin and caregiver, Catherine Knight; best friends, Eulas Henderson and Sylvester Burroughs; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Thelma Jones Witherspoon; father, George Nixon Sr.; son, Harvey E.
