Funeral service for Hattye Ager Peters, 86, will be on Monday, January 2, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Seventeenth Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Laster officiating. Interment will follow in Forestlawn Gardens. Mrs. Peters passed away on December 26, 2016 at Regional Medical Center. Public visitation will be this evening from 3-6 p.m. in the Chapel. Mrs. Peters's remains will arrive at the church three hours prior to her service. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Soroity, Inc. Ivy Beyound the Wall Ceremony will be at 11 a.m. prior to service. Mrs. Peters graduated from Carver High School, class of 1947. She graduated from Alabama A & M University, Tuskegee University, Jacksonville State University, Auburn University and Miles College. She was a educator for 58 years. She was a member of RSVP Advisory Council, Pre-K Friends, East AL Regional Planning Commission, Carver Museum Advisory Council, C.A.S.T., Calhoun County Civic Chorale, JSU, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Madelyn Library and Art Club, Smith Metropolitian AME Zion Church and had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Preacher's Steward, Treasurer, and Choir Member. Survivors include her son, Phillip (Delores) Peters; grandchildren, Richard and Devante Cantrell; siblings, Helen Knowles, Lois Baxter, Robert (Rosalinda) Ager, Pat McGee, Dorothy (Earling) Rosser, and other relatives and friends.
