Henry Lewis "Chip" Allen Jr., 55, passed the afternoon of September, 4, 2015 of natural causes from hypertension. Chip was born on February 14, 1962 in Jacksonville, Fla., although he grew up in Anniston, after moving there as a small child. Chip attended Jacksonville State University, and studied English Literature and Philosophy. Up to the day of his demise, he was a member - and attended St. Michael's Episcopal Church of Anniston. Lewis "Chip" was widely known for being an unassuming, kind and exceedingly bright person with deep-seeded passions for classic literature, cinema graphic arts, rock and roll, creative writing - and intelligent conversation with other kindred spirits. Lewis "Chip" is survived by siblings, Martha Whitney Allen, who resides in Anniston, and Charles W. Allen, who resides with his wife, Beth, and 11 year old daughter, Martha Elizabeth, in Birmingham. According to his brother Charles, "With a heavy heart, I'll say that Chip was the purest and kindest individual I've ever known. And, he was certainly an undiscovered literary genius. Indeed, the world has lost a beautiful mind. Shine on, Chip." There will be a private service this Friday evening for Henry Lewis "Chip" Allen, Jr. In lieu of flowers or plants, Chip's surviving loved ones ask that donations be made, instead, to The Calhoun County Humane Society, from which Chip adopted several abandoned animals.
