Herbert Jackson Snider, 88, of Homewood Acres, was born March 7, 1928 and passed away at his residence on April 12, 2016. Mr. Snider was a Korean War Veteran who was proud of his military service. He was a long time member of The Frist Baptist Church of Homewood Acres. He was a lifelong truck driver, retired Teamster and at the time of his passing, was employed by John Ray Trucking. Mr. Snider was also very proud that he was a Mason and a member of the Hartwell Lodge # 101 in Oxford, Alabama. He was also a big fan of Alabama Football. Mr. Snider is survived by his sisters, Sarah Rhodes (Grady), Emma Jean Bolling, Beverly Williams (Gene) and Faye Oswalt (Bob); brothers, William Guy Snider (Jeanette) and Ralph Vernon Snider (Ruthie); daughter, Laura Eden (Billy); sons, Guy Snider, Keith Snider, Jeff Snider (Emily), David Snider (Sharon), Glen Pettus (Sharon), Gerald Pettus and Don Pettus (Cindy); 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great-grandchildren and a special four legged friend named Bama. Mr. Snider was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Annie Laura Snider; his wives, Edna Stewart Snider and Nelda Bowman Snider; children, Mitchell Snider, Vickie Conner (Wayne), Mona Dempsey (Danny) and Linda Fisher (Bob). Service will be Friday, April 15, 2016, 2 p.m. at Frist Baptist Church of Homewood Acres. Pastor Wayne Eden, Jeff Pettus, Bruce Cardwell and Tommy Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Snider's sons will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Snider was a simple peaceful man who loved God and his family.
