Service for Herman Broome, 91, will be today, January 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Owens officiating. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Broome, of Alexandria; son, William H. "Bill" Broome (Judy), of Anniston; daughter, Charlotte Broome Smith (Steve), of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Will H. Broome Jr., Christopher Smith, Caroline Smith and Anna Cate Smith. Mr. Broome was a lifelong resident of Alexandria. He attended Auburn University and served in the U.S. Army (Air Corp) during World War II, being stationed in numerous areas on the Pacific front. He was a well-respected automobile salesman/dealer in Anniston for over 30 years as well as an avid lifelong Polled Hereford cattleman in Alexandria. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, Auburn Alumni Association, Alexandria Civitan Club, Alexandria Baptist Church and the American Hereford Association. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Broome (Amy Brimer), of Alexandria, and his sister, Mrs. Eunice Wilkins (Browning), of Anniston, precede Mr. Broome in death. Pallbearers will be Will H.
