The funeral service for Mr. Herman H. Hansen Jr., 79, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016, at Harvest Church of God with Bishop Jerry Irwin officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 this evening at the church. Mr. Hansen passed away on December 20, 2016 at N.E. Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hansen was a native of Lisbon, North Dakota. He retired after 20 years of honorable service in the United States Navy. He went on to graduate from Ayers State Technical College with degrees in welding and electricity. Following college, he worked in various industries in his respective fields and eventually retired from Allied Signal. Mr. Hansen will be most remembered for spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and being a friend to many. Being a cancer survivor, he believed in giving back to his community through charitable causes. Mr. Hansen is preceded in death by his wife, of 50 years, Juanita Hansen; a grandson, Seth Hansen; a brother, Lars Hansen, and a sister, Maxine Tidee. He is survived by his daughter, Gina Coley (Stan), of LaGrange, Ga.; two sons, Rick Hansen, of Oxford and Rod Hansen, of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dustin Coley, Kristen Cadenhead and Chris Hansen; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Millie Cole and Devon Hansen; brothers, William Hansen and Norman Hansen.
