Homer Dudley Wright, 80, died in the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson, La. on May 3, 2016. Mr. Wright was born in Anniston on April 3, 1936. He was preceded in death by his father, Styles Grier Wright Jr.; mother, Velma Dabbs Wright and a baby brother, Styles Grier Wright III. Homer is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lynn Browning Wright, of Baton Rouge, La.; two sons, Dennis Dudley Wright, of Tuscaloosa and Mark Stephen (Anne) Wright, of Smithfield, Va.; grandson, Corey Wright; granddaughter, Alicia Wright and great-granddaughter, Luna Spivey, also of Smithfield, Va. and one sister, Dottie Wright (Joe) Garner, of Orange Beach. Mr. Wright was a graduate of Anniston High School, Class of 1953, attended Jacksonville State University and received a bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico and Albuquerque. He served overseas tours of duty in Germany, Spain and Vietnam and retired from the US Air Force following 23 years of service to his country. After his retirement from the military, Homer worked as a Health Physicist for the states of New Mexico, Arkansas and Louisiana. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 9, 2016, from 9 - 10 a.m. at Gray Brown Funeral Home in Anniston. The graveside service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Edgemont Cemetery.
