Hoyt Mathis, 74, died Monday, March 7, 2016 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Steve Dempsey and the Rev. Franklin Lee Hollis officiating. Burial will follow in Crumley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be today March 8, 2016, from 5 until 7 p.m. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include spouse, Eleanor Mathis, of Heflin, Ala.; sisters, Syble Long, of Seal, Ala., Leautrell Breeden, of Ray City, Ga., Vecoy Moreau, of Hayes, La., Judy Cerny, of Douglasville, Ga., Linda Smith, of Heflin, Ala. and Brenda Cathy, of Columbus, Ga. several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Johnny Bible, Bob Howle, Frank Hollis, Gary Sprayberry, Kenneth Hanson and Dodson Mathis. Hoyt was a life long resident of Cleburne County and retired from L. E. Bell Const. Hoyt enjoyed life to the fullest, fishing, horseback riding and most of all, going to the casino. Hoyt loved kids and was a kid at heart. Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Mathis; his mother, Opal McDaniel; brother, Dalton Mathis. The family wants to thanks Alacare Hopice Nurses.
