Memorial service for Mr. Hubert Hugh Phillips, 67, will be Saturday, August 13, 2016, from 3-5 p.m. at Weaver Community Center. Mr. Phillips passed on Monday, August 8, 2016. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Marie Phillips; daughters, Shounda Connell, Cindy Rovig, Sandra Higginbotham and Buffy Usery; sons, Phillip Pinson and Daniel Phillips; sisters, Helen Wood, Gloria Morgan and Edith Nolan; honorary brothers, Sonny Gray and Terry Gray; grandchildren, William Forsythe, Lacy Forsythe, Dillion Brickhouse, Dustin Usery, Richard Williams, Josh Williams, Justin Higginbotham, Shawn Pinson and Ashlee Pinson; great-grandchildren, Emalee Forsythe, Ryleigh Forsythe, Wyatt Forsyth, Preston Williams, Pierce Williams, Brantley Usery, Bella Usery, Jebadiah Stanfill, David Stanfill and Melody Pinson. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his father, Walter "Hot" Phillips; mother, Ruth Phillips; sister, Esther Smallwood; brother, Andrew Phillips; stepsister, Shirley Hollingsworth; stepbrother, Jimmy Nolan; grandson, David Pinson. Mr. Phillips was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He attended Weaver High School and served in the Army as a door gunner on helicopters during the Vietnam War.
