Funeral service for Inge Parsons, 84, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Private burial will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Mrs. Parsons was born in Berlin, Germany on December 24, 1931. She survived the bombings of Berlin and emigrated to the U. S. shortly after World War 2 as a military wife of a career Army Sergeant. She took pride in becoming an American citizen. She spoke fluent German and acted as interpreter for Ft. McClellan Army Base when needed. She worked tirelessly for the Cub Scouts of America and received many awards. She served as treasurer of the Joy Quilt Guild for many years and loved gardening. As an army wife, she moved and lived all over the United State and settled in Jacksonville, Alabama where she lived out the happiest years of her life. She passed away peacefully at home. Survivors include her sons, Thomas and Charles Parsons; daughters, Margaret Murphy and Carol Kilgore; four grandchildren, Julie Baioni, Timothy Parsons, Triston Parson and Bryce Parsons; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Karl and Hans Jurgen Gang and sister, Christine Wertel.
