Ira Paul Bowers Jr. born March 29, 1947, died April 5, 2013. Survived by sisters, Millie Harris (Braxton), of Anniston, and Pat Dommermuth (Bill), of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Washington, Maine; nephew, Braxton Harris Jr., of Anniston; niece, Melissa Harris Dye (Alan), of Potomac, Md., and his best friends Herman, a black lab, and Jake, a tabby cat. Paul was a Vietnam veteran, and attended Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He was a historian, animal lover, artist and intellectual, a true good soul, who " walked to the beat of a different drummer." He will be sorely missed by all those who were fortunate enough to get to know, accept and appreciate him as the unique individual that he was. His parents, Ira Paul Bowers Sr. and Mattie Lou Bowers, preceded him in death.
