A funeral service for Mrs. Isabel Roper Rogers, 95, will be Thursday May 28, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Dr. Bob Ford and the Rev. Jimmy Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Mrs. Rogers died Thursday, May 21, 2015, in Birmingham, Alabama. She is survived by one niece, Carolyn C. Lusk; and one nephew, Mort Caldwell, both of Birmingham; two granddaughters, Karen Rogers (Roger) Lott and Kelly Rogers Norton, all of Ga.; five great grandchildren; and several great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and Jacksonville State Teacher's College (JSU), where she was valedictorian of her class at both institutions. Mrs. Rogers taught school for 37 years at Kitty Stone Elementary. She was a founding member of the Inter Se Study Club of Jacksonville, and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa educational sorority of Calhoun County. Mrs. Rogers was very active in the General John H. Forney Chapter of the UDC where she held several offices including state president. She was also involved with the Chinnabee-Fort Strother Chapter of the NSDAR and held offices as well. Mrs. Rogers was a genuine and selfless person who made a positive impact on every person's path she crossed. She brought great joy to many people throughout her 95 years. Mrs. Rogers was a loving mother, aunt, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Rogers; her son, Joseph J. Rogers Jr.; and her sister, Jeanette Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, P. O. Box 440, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
