A funeral service for Iva Jean Estes, 91, was held Monday, November 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Rev. Dr. William Snow Jr. officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Estes died Saturday, November 8, 2014 at RMC Jacksonville. She is survived by her son, Rodney Estes and his wife, Annette, of Jacksonville; two daughters, Janice Dean and her husband, Jimmy, of Cataula, Ga. and Donna Blackburn and her husband, Chris, of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Casey Grimes, Jennifer Stanley, Becca Corley, Jarrod Cuthrell, Skylar Cuthrell, Whitney Blackburn, Joey Estes, Amy Estes; seven great- grandchildren; one great -great-grandchild; sister, Ruth Chaney, of Jacksonville. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dean, Chris Blackburn, Jarrod Cuthrell, Skylar Cuthrell, Joey Estes and Kevin Turner. Mrs. Estes was a native of Calhoun County and resided here most of her life with the exception of tours abroad with her husband while he was on active duty in the military. She was a member of Edgewood Congregational Methodist Church. Mrs. Estes was the beloved matriarch of the family and always generous in offering a meal or a snack to anyone visiting her home. She was a local artist and owner of Estes Hall of Frames. Preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Tivis Hardy; her husband of 52 years, Volney Estes; her siblings, Allen Hardy, Velma Wilkins, and Pauline Roper.
