Jack Eugene Wells, 81, beloved husband of Joanne Samuelson Wells for 62 years, passed away after a hard fought fight with COPD and congestive heart failure. He was predeceased by his only son, Russell, who died in a tragic car accident in 1976. He was also predeceased by his parents and five siblings. Jack was born in Lewis, Iowa, where he lived until he joined the military and fought in the Korean War. Jack then joined the civil service and volunteered for three jobs of temporary duty in Vietnam. He retired from the civil service at the Anniston Army Depot. Jack was well known for his work ethic. He worked in every state in the United States except for Florida and often traveled overseas for his job. Besides his wife, Joanne, Jack is survived by his only daughter, Debbie Sanders and her husband, Dean, of Anniston; three granddaughters, Shannon Johnson and her husband, Todd, Casie Ramirez and her husband, Danny and Shelby Sanders; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Russell Wells, Landon Kole Tripp, Brady Alexander and Grayson Walker Johnson. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Mohammed Shubair and staff and Donna Johnson and her co-workers at Southern Care Hospice. Their efforts to provide quality care has not gone unnoticed. Also, a special thank you to our church families at First Christian Church of Anniston and First Baptist Church of Weaver. Your support and prayers are greatly appreciated. Our family thanks God for the gift of Jack's life and the blessing of being loved by him. He was a very special man to many people. He will remain in our hearts as long as we shall live. Service will be held at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday. The family will accept visitors at 1 p.m. and a funeral service honoring Jack will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Gardens. Pallbearers will be Todd Johnson, Dean Sanders, Jackson Wells, Carey Daniel, Forney Russ, Brady Johnson, Grayson Johnson and Landon Tripp. Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made in his honor to First Christian Church of Anniston, 1327 Leighton Ave., Anniston, AL 36207.
