Funeral service for Jack A. Harris, age, 73, of Wadley, will be Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South) at 2 p.m. with Bro. Mickey Vaughn and Bro. Alan Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Harris was born in Clay County, where he graduated from Mellow Valley High School and attended Southern Union State Community College. He was an electrician and retired from SUSCC as the supervisor of maintenance. He has been a deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church since 1964 where he also served as a choir director. He was a charter member of County Line Volunteer Fire Dept., a Mason, and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He also served on the Clay County Hospital Board. He loved his family and loved the Bible. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Josie Harris; two children, Lisa Mask (Greg) and John Harris (Dina) both of Wadley; four grandchildren, Joe Mask (Emily) of Calera, Jake Mask (Samantha) of Auburn, Joni Harris and Jacie Harris of Wadley; one great-grandson, Garrett Mask of Calera; one sister, Jennifer Vaughn (Mickey) and nephew, Zeb Vaughn of Wadley. He was preceded in death by his parents Bruno and Pearl Tidwell Harris. Pallbearers will be Joe Mask, Jake Mask, Joni Harris, Jacie Harris, Zeb Vaughn, Jeff Evans, John Abernathy and Keith Langley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Brotherhood of Mt. Olive Church and members of County Line Volunteer Fire Department. Both floral offerings and donations to County Line Volunteer Fire Department will be accepted. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Saturday from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. He will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
