Funeral service for Jackson S. Hendrix, 71, will be 2 p.m today at Dryden Funeral Home. Viewing will be today from noon until time of service. Mr. Hendrix went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.J. and Ethel Harris Hendrix and one brother, Bernard Hendrix. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine D. Hendrix; one son, Stacey S. Hendrix (Jennia), of Ranburne; daughter, Michelle H. Crosson (Brandon), of Heflin; two granddaughters, Stacey Hope and Lydia Rose Hendrix; other family members including Betty Hendrix, of Heflin, Dwayne and Jessie Hendrix,of Heflin, Grace and Lee B. Teague, of Woodville; a host of nephews, nieces and great-nephews and nieces. Sherril was born October 25, 1944. He enjoyed Auburn football, NASCAR racing, guns, cars and trucks. He worked 25 years at Southwire in Carrollton, Georgia. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and received several medals including two Purple Hearts . He loved God and his country. The "Big Red One" was his company with the rank of E-4. Demolition and machine gunner was his expertise. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
