Funeral service for James A. Cohill, 77, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Seventeenth Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dontanette L. Cohill, Eulogist. Burial will follow in Eden Hills Cemetery. Mr. Cohill will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church. Public viewing will be held today from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Goodson Funeral Home, Inc. directing. He was born and raised in Anniston, Ala. James graduated from Cobb Avenue and pursued higher education at an Historical Black College Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Ala. While attending he pledged the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. He later became a member of the Grand Chapter and a Life Member. Mr. Cohill was an active member of the Anniston-Piedmont Chapter. James worked at Mount Meigs as an Industrial Arts Teacher. Later he became employed with the Anniston City School Systems. His final employment was with Federal Mogul in which he retired in 1997. Survivors include his wife, Annye (Smith) Cohill, of Anniston, Ala.; his sons, Derek L. Cohill, of California and Alfred D. Moss, Alabama; two daughters, Dontanette L. Cohill, of Georgia and Alicia L. Cohill, of Alabama; five grandsons; a very special "sister", Mary Harper, of Alabama; a goddaughter, Genia Jordan Armour, of Alabama.
