James Baxter Barnwell, 86, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on today October 14, 2014, at Chulafinnee Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jackie Taylor, officiating. Burial will follow in Chulafinnee Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be was held October 13, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include wife, Myrtle A. Barnwell, of Delta; son, Byron Barnwell, of Delta; daughter, Jennifer Barnwell, of Delta; sister, Anne Smith, of Alabaster; sister, Myrian Kirby, Jacksonville; brother, Lehman Barnwell, of Delta; grand children, Chasity Merrill, Stacy Merrill. Pallbearers Ricky Barnwell, Barry Barnwell, Ronnie Barnwell, Brandon Barnwell, Robert Smith, Ricky Noell and Gathryn Pritchett. Mr. Barnwell was a native and life long resident of Cleburne County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a Bronze Star recipient. James was a former employee of Moore Business Forms, an equipment operator for Cleburne County, and a member of Chulafinnee Baptist Church.
