Funeral service for James C. Austin, 82, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Snow officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rena Creel Austin; his children, Kathy Renee' Boyle, James Charlie Austin Jr. (Tammy), Sabrina Ann Haynes (Steve) and Joseph Issac Austin (Alicia); grandchildren, Kristie Marie Austin (Justin), Christopher Lance Austin (Valerie), Blake Austin Haynes, Jamie Thomas Austin and Brodie Bryant Austin; great-grandchild, Nathan Lane Headrick; sister, Rita Simpson; brothers, Jimmy Austin, J. W. Austin Nell) and Allen Austin (Glenda) and best friend, Steve West. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Austin and parents, Georgia and Issac Austin. Mr. Austin served in the U. S. Army and U. S. Air Force and retired after 20 years. He received the Purple Heart while serving during the Korean War. He was retired from Anniston Water Works.
