Talladega - Mr. James Donald "Red" Ray, a resident of Talladega, passed away on July 20, 2013 at the age of 63. He was born on October 18, 1949 in Sylacauga, and had live in Piedmont for most of his life. Mr. Ray was a 1967 graduate of Sylacauga High School. Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his father, R.D. Ray; mother, Lucille Ray and brother, Randall Ray. Surviving family include his wife of 41 years, Jeannie Ray; brother, Gary Ray, of Anniston; daughter, Michelle Tyler, of Leeds; son, Donnie Ray, of Wake Forest, N.C.; grandkids, Meagan Tyler (22), Chloe Tyler (14), Sidney Tyler (11), Matt Ray (9), Anna Ray (5). All of James' friends were special to him in so many ways. From childhood to adulthood, James touched so many people through his charismatic personality and his welcoming spirit. The Ray Family would like to send a special thanks to Mike and Dana Massey for their devotion to James and Jeannie over the last few years. Without them and the entire "Country Club Estate's Crew" these past years would not have been as memorable and fulfilling. We would also like to thank Oasis Healthcare for their support through these difficult times. Services will be held today, July 23, 2013, at 4 p.m. at their home (475 N. Lakeshore Drive, Talladega), by Chaplain Keith Best. Friends and family are welcome to join us in celebrating his life.
