Funeral service for James Dwight Parker, 63, will be Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Brother David Weaver and Derek Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 - 3 p.m. Mr. Parker passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Parker, of Piedmont; daughter, Danielle McIntyre (Daniel), of Jacksonville; son, Derek Parker (Candi), of Piedmont; three grandchildren, Chevy McIntyre, Carlee McIntyre and Landyn Parker; chosen grandchildren, Ethan and Talon Whaley, Bryce Owens and Skylar Junior; two brothers, Carl Parker and Ricky Parker, both of Piedmont; one sister, Violet Hairrell (Danny), of Piedmont; his mother-in-law, Betty Kelley, of Ellisville; several nieces, nephews and other family members. Pallbearers will be David Studdard, Steve Roland, Nicholas Hairrell, Carl Hairrell, David Smith and Daniel McIntyre. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Lawler and all employees of Garcy Corporation. Mr. Parker was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont. He was employed at Garcy Corporation for 30+ years, was a member of Real Truth Ministry and loved antique cars and car shows. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Ruth Parker and his father-in-law, Herman Kelley.
