Funeral service for James Franklin Houston "Uncle Jeff", 80, will be on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Grove Worship Center with the Rev. Frederick Brown officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Grove Worship Center Cemetery in Newell. Mr. Houston passed away on May 30, 2016 at Regional Medical Center. Mr. Houston's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service. Mr. Houston worked for New South Construction in Atlanta. He served his church as Steward and also on the Trustee Board. He served our country in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Erris Houston; daughter, Pamela (Mark) Jackson; sons, Fred (Jackie) All, James (Charoltte) Houston, Jeffery (Sharon) Houston, Verlon (Sharon) Houston, Brandon (Kelly) Houston and Terry (Michelle) Westbrook; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Cooley and Mary Maffett; in-laws, Alice Delanery, Helen (Douglas) Elston, Tommy (Mamie) Westbrook and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Goannie Jordon Houston; siblings, Robert Lee Houston, Gordon Houston, Minister Pauline Jones, Hattie Mae Houston Minister Lizzie B.
