Funeral service for Mr. James Jerome Crawford, 59, will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville in the McWhorter (MAC) Building. The Rev. Ted Anderson will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Jerome died on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at UAB. Jerome is survived by his two sons, James Chadwick Crawford (Stephanie), of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and John Jeffrey Crawford, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Johnathan Chadwick Crawford and Madelyn Joyce Crawford, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one sister, Molly Grace Dennis-Turner, of Anniston; one brother, Dr. Alan Conaway (Tawana), of Anniston; and his fiancée, Annelle Lee, of Anniston. Pallbearers will be family members and friends. Jerome graduated from Saks High School and attended Jacksonville State University where he was a member of the Marching Southerners under the direction of Dr. David L. Walters. He was a gifted musician and played with many bands. Most recently he was a member of the Praise Band at the First Methodist Church of Jacksonville. Jerome was a very giving man during his life and also after his death. He was able to give the gift of sight, along with other gifts, to many people in need. The family would like to thank all the friends and staff at UAB hospital for all the love that was shown to Jerome.
