Funeral service for Mr. James Larry Padgett, 74, will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastors Dan Mattox and Ken Nix officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8, 2015, from 5-7 p..m at the funeral home. Mr. Padgett passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Regional Medical Center. He is survived by daughter, Kelly Padgett Poore (John); son, Jamy Padgett; grandchildren, Miles Robertson (Angie), Abigail Poore; great- grandchild, Olivia Robertson; brothers, Charles Padgett (Sue), Terry Padgett (Tomma); sister, Sheila Ingram; nephews, Ben Padgett, Terry Padgett Jr.; nieces, Lisa Clark, Tracy Dean. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Padgett; parents, Terrell and Natherine Padgett; brother-in-law, Doyle Ingram. Pallbearers will be Terry Padgett Jr., Ben Padgett, Bobo Dean, Jamie Clark, Wesley Padgett and Bradley Padgett. Mr. Padgett graduated from Oxford High School in 1960 where he played football. After graduating, he joined the Airforce and retired after 20 years of service. While stationed overseas, he also played football for the Airforce. During his career in the Airforce, he attended several colleges where he was taking classes to be an electronic technician. He moved back to Oxford in 1980. He retired from International Enterprises Incorporated, known today as Elbit Systems, in Talladega in 2008. Mr. Padgett attended church at Word Alive International Outreach. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, Oxford and Alabama football and loved joking around with his friends and family.
