James Lester Ray, 70, passed away Wednesday. Mr. Ray, a Vietnam Marine Corporal Veteran, received 3 Purple Hearts. He was a supporter of Civilian Marksmanship, the Wounded Warrior Program and the Marines. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Gordon Ray and sister, Deborah Ray Sampieri. Survivors include sons, Glenn Cantley (Nancy Elizabeth), Michael Ray (Cassondra Link) and Rick Ray; grandsons, Stephen Ray Cantley and Brian Thomas Cantley; mother, Ruth Toone Ray; ex-wives, Sandra Sullivan Pittman and Carol Mullins Ray; one niece, Jennifer Sampieri Janzen (Wendell); two nephews: Terry Goodman and Justin Sampieri (Jennifer Hilton); three great-nieces and one great-nephew. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at noon with Michael Ray officiating.
