Mr. James Orville Hanson, 62, passed away July 7, 2017. James was born July 3, 1955 in Jacksonville, Fla. James graduated high school from Emma Sansom High School in 1973. He received an AD from Ayers State College in Alabama. He worked for Gulf State Steel for 24 years. Pops was an avid bowler and bowled all over the United States in tournaments. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. Everyone loved their "PawPaw James." His family lost a good hearted person, but the Lord gained a kind, devoted soul. Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife, Brenda Bishop Hanson; parents, George and Mary Hanson, all of Tallapoosa; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Chris Armstrong, of Manassas, Va.; sons, Joshua Hanson, of Tallapoosa, and Joseph Kennedy, of Marstown, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jason Oswalt, Andrew Hanson, Aaron Hanson, Sean Armstrong, Seth Armstrong, and J.P. Kennedy; and sisters, Charlotte and Jim Longshore, of Bremen and Diane and Mitch Gray, of Tallapoosa. Funeral service will be held today, July 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Tallapoosa First Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Eddins and the Rev. Johnny Bonds officiating. Pallbearers serving are Jason Oswalt, Jared Singer, Steve Smith, Chris Longshore, Brian Longshore, and Ashton Smith. Honorary pallbearers are the Pruitt Hospice Team, Sean Armstrong, Seth Armstrong, J. P. Kennedy, Andrew Hanson, Aaron Hanson, Tristan Smith, Andy Eddins and Randy Hanson.
