Memorial service for James P. Roberts will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Anniston. The family will receive and welcome friends from noon until the service hour in the Sanctuary of the church. A lifelong resident of Anniston, Mr. Roberts began his church music ministry at the young age of seventeen, serving as Organist and Choir Director for First Baptist Church of Anniston and in later years served as Organist and Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church of Anniston. He has faithfully and lovingly served for the last thirty-five years at Anniston First United Methodist Church. Mr. Roberts traveled as the professional accompanist in Nashville (1973-1976) for the late Larry Logan (Concert Star of the Classical Harmonica) and toured throughout the United States as a cultural ambassador for music appreciation. His musical gifts brought immeasurable comfort, hope, joy and love to everyone who was blessed to experience his God-given talent. Mr. Roberts owned and operated the Golden Springs Nursery and Landscape Company. His appreciation and love of nature and the beauty of his soul is reflected in the landscape of Anniston. His numerous affiliations and contributions include the honorary status as an Emeritus member of the Camp Lee Board, Past President of Ducks Unlimited, NRA, Alabama Wildlife Federation, and a longstanding member of Saints John Masonic Lodge #931 in Anniston. Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 44 years, Colleen Lankford Roberts; two sons, James P. Roberts II and Dr. J. Stewart Roberts and his wife Courtney; one grandson, Jackson Stewart Roberts; two brothers, Gerald H. Roberts and his wife, Gail, and Harvey C. Roberts Jr. and his wife, Pam; and numerous extended family members. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the James P.
