Funeral service for James Rickey Gilley, 67, will be Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jo Kirk and the Rev. Tom Moye officiating. Burial will follow at Gnatville Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 - 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Gilley passed away Monday, February 29, 2016, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pamela Prater Gilley, of Piedmont; one daughter, Jennifer Cofield (Chris), of Anniston; one son, Kaylon Gilley, of Piedmont; two grandchildren, Macon Cofield and Jacob Cofield; one sister, Helen Bonds (Andy), of Piedmont; one brother, Cecil Gilley, of Gnatville and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rick Harper, Bobby Pearson, Alex Harper, Randall Prater, Edward Kelley and Phil Goss. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Bonds and Mike Morrow. Mr. Gilley was a lifelong resident of the Piedmont area and was of the Methodist faith. He taught Sunday School and loved to sing in the church choir as well as with his wife. He loved visiting the Smoky Mountains, walking for enjoyment and exercise and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
