James Samuel Moore, 91, died Thursday, September 18, 2014 at V A Medical Center, Mountain Home TN. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Heflin City Cemetery. Visitation will be today, September 21, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Dryden Funeral Home. Survivors include, Daughter, Dr. Marsha Scheidt of Hixson, TN; Daughter, Melonia Williams, TX; Sister, Mamie Montague, MS; Brother, Dale Moore, OK; Five Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, two Great-Great-Grandchildren; Sister-in-law, Glenda Wade Taylor, NC; Sister-in-law, Ann Wade Howle, Heflin. Pallbearers will be, Kevin Scheidt, Karin Scheidt, Brian Williams, Alex NorthCutt, Nelson Gladden, Lydia Aston, Carey Gladden, Barry Kennedy. Mr. Moore was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served during World War II. He served abord the U.S.S. Wichita. He was a member of Dallas Masonic Lodge #228 and a member of Chulafinnee Methodist Church and worked for Southern Natural Gas as plant manager at Bells Mill. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Moore; parents, Sammie and Jimmie Moore; sister, Mildred Buchanan, and brothers, Virgil and Verlyn Moore.
