Funeral service for Mrs. Jane Self Burnham, 85, of Anniston, will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015 in the sanctuary of Parker Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Mack Amis and Don Gober officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour on Thursday at the church. Mrs. Burnham passed away on April 13, 2015 at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Burnham grew up in Jacksonville. She received her bachelor' s degree in music education from The University of Alabama in 1950 and her master' s degree from Columbia University in New York City in 1951. She lived in Anniston for over 60 years from the time she was a young bride. She was a long time member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and was very involved in the music ministry there. She served for a time as an organist and for many years as a piano accompanist in the music ministry. She was also involved in many civic related activities including the Knox Music Club and Music at the Museum. She was a long time member of the Parnassus Club and a member of the Board of the Anniston YMCA. Mrs. Burnham also taught many private piano students over the course of her many years in Anniston. Together with her close friend and fellow musician, Sarah Evans Collins, she performed many concerts in churches and other venues in the Anniston community. Mrs. Burnham is preceded in death by her husband, H.R. "Pat" Burnham; her parents, Reuben Self and Jane D. Self; and a sister-in-law, Estelle B. Vestgard. She is survived by her daughters, Danzey Burnham (J.P. Marinelli), of Lebanon, N.J. and Janie Butler (Davis), of Atlanta; her sons, Rick Burnham (Joy), of Tuscaloosa and Bill Burnham (Angie) of Hickory, N.C.; and grandchildren, Annie Burnham, Emma Burnham, Justin Marinelli, Will Marinelli, Kelly Burnham, Abbey Burnham, Katie Butler, Ben Butler, Daniel Butler, and Lydia Butler. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Music Ministry at Parker Memorial Baptist Church, 1205 Quintard Avenue, Anniston, AL 36201.
